Watch the Breaking Dawn Movie Trailer

The new Breaking Dawn movie trailer was released and the movie looks really good. You can watch the trailer here. The movie will be out November, 18, 2011. Unfortunately, part 2 will be released a full year later on November 16, 2012. I have read the book a few times and can see that they changed a few things. It seems like all movies made from books do this and I should be used to it by now, but it always bothers me.

Most fans already know that this movie is from the final book in the Twilight series. Stephanie Meyer had planned on writing another book, but stopped in the middle and set it aside forever when the unfinished book was posted on the internet without her permission. I am still hoping that she will change her mind and continue writing “Midnight Sun”.

Woman Hit by Space Junk, Lives to Tell the Tale

What’s it like to get hit with a piece of space junk?

Lottie Williams — perhaps the only person in history to ever get hit by falling space junk — knows the answer. Back in January of 1997, she and two friends were walking through a park in Tulsa, Oklahoma around 3:30 a.m. when they saw a huge fireball streaking from the skies.

“We were stunned, in awe,” Williams told FoxNews.com. She thought she’d just witnessed a shooting star. “It was beautiful.”

Less than thirty minutes later, that awe turned to fear.

“We were still walking through the park when I felt a tapping on my shoulder,” Williams explained. With no one near her at the time, she started to run, thinking a stranger had appeared out of the shadows. Then she heard something hit the ground behind her.

“The weight was comparable to an empty soda can,” Williams told FoxNews.com. “It looked like a piece of fabric except when you tap it, it sounded metallic.” Williams was sure she’d found a piece of a shooting star.

Excited by her discovery, she took the fallen piece of sky to her local library where she was referred to the astronomy club (given her space-rock theory), as well as the National Weather Service — who told her about a Delta II rocket that had re-entered the atmosphere the night before.

Runaway steer creates chaos on Arizona interstate

A runaway steer stopped traffic on a major highway, hurtled over a brick wall and damaged two police vehicles during a Tuesday morning chase that had four Arizona law enforcement agencies scrambling.

The male bovine escaped from a livestock trailer Tuesday morning on Interstate 8 just east of Yuma in southeastern Arizona, Yuma County sheriff’s Capt. Eben Bratcher told The Associated Press.

The driver of the trailer, which had five other steer inside, was getting on the freeway when he noticed that a side door was ajar. He pulled over but one of his charges got away before he could shut the door.

“It was chaotic,” Bratcher said. “It was running around in traffic on the interstate, which is why law enforcement got involved as quickly as it did. There was a lot of us out there chasing this thing around.”

He said the steer bounded over one police car and later barreled over a brick wall, knocking some bricks down.

Child brings mother's crack pipe & drugs to show-and-tell

SWEET SPRINGS, Mo. (AP) – Officials at a small northwest Missouri elementary school say they were stunned when a kindergarten student brought his mom’s crack pipe and some drugs for show-and-tell.

KCTV reports that the boy showed the items on Sept. 6 at Sweet Springs Elementary School. School officials called police.

The boy’s 32-year-old mother was arrested and is charged with possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment.

Court records indicate that the teacher told police that the boy had the pipe and “several baggies of crack rocks.” Officials say the drugs were worth about $3,700.

Giant African Snails Invade Miami Florida

Workers from Florida’s Department of Agriculture are fighting a slimy and dangerous enemy: giant African land snails that have invaded a residential area in Miami-Dade County.

Investigators aren’t sure when or how the invaders slithered into town, but they are on a mission to eradicate the snails as fast as possible.  Giant African land snails can grow to be as long as 8 inches and consume at least 500 different types of plants.  They also destroy stucco and plaster.
This somehow reminds me of Gary on Sponge Bob.
“They leave excrement all over the sides of houses. They’re very nasty,” Feiber said.  “These things are not the cute little snails that you see.”

They also pose a health risk by carrying a parasite that can cause meningitis in humans.
